Speaking |
- Speaking class is divided into a study section and a usage section.
- In the study portion, students learn the grammar, vocabulary, and topic for that day’s class, which are organized to facilitate the ability to use them in basic dialogues.
- In the usage portion of the class, students use the grammar and expressions studied that day to complete given tasks.
- After communication activities, students exchange their various opinions on given problems.
- Learners increase their ability to communicate through task-based, communicative activities.

Listening |
- Sogang University’s listening classes are a bit different from ordinary listening courses.
- In listening and speaking class, which is task-based, the emphasis is placed on activities where students acquire important information by listening.
- The role of the teacher in these activities is not to explain or tell the students what it is they are listening to, but rather to help and guide the students in understanding the information that is being heard so that they are able to discuss it amongst themselves.

Reading |
- Sogang University’s reading classes are also different from ordinary reading courses.
- Reading activities go beyond the level of reading a test and understanding it.
- Rather, they are learner-centered, focusing on student interactions and speaking creatively about the topics.
- After students read a passage, they use that passage as the basis for speaking and writing activities.

Writing |
- Sogang University’s writing activities are effective at helping students who struggle with a large gap between their accuracy and fluency.
- In writing class, students learn to understand a variety of expressions and the structure of the Korean language.
- In this class, students practice and enhance their vocabulary.
- In the first stage of writing, students think and write, following the instructor’s consistent guidance.
- Later on, students receive individual instruction that helps them to express themselves accurately and fluently.

Video |
- From level 5 onwards, Sogang University students use videos in class, watching dramas, movies, news, and so on.
- By watching dramas, students are able to learn fresh, contemporary, realistic language.
