Course Introduction

Writing
  • In the special advanced course writing class, students practice writing in different styles.
  • Students write reports on different topics of interest, translate, write descriptive passages, and so on.
  • The course covers a variety of formats.
Media reading and speaking
  • A media reading and speaking class has been organized as part of the special advanced course.
  • In the class, students read daily news and reports that are prepared by the instructor and discuss and debate Korean politics, economics, culture, and so on.
Video
  • In video class, students watch a variety of materials including dramas, movies, and documentaries.
  • By watching dramas, students are able to learn fresh, contemporary, realistic language.
Literature and Culture
  • A literature and culture class has been organized as part of the special advanced course.
  • Students read works of literature and publications about Korean culture to enhance their knowledge of these topics.
  • In addition, students deepen their understanding of Korean culture, Korean people, and Korean society.

Evaluation

  • In order to complete the special advanced course, students must score over 70% on the final exam in each class (writing, media reading and speaking, video, and literature and culture) as well as in their speaking interview.

Attendance

  • Students must attend at least 70% of classes in order to complete the special advanced course.
  • In the event that a student attends fewer than 70% of classes, a certificate of completion will not be issued.
